
Allison Brooks Janney, born on November 19, 1959, in America is an American actor. Her roles on screen and the stage have been a hallmark of her professional career, which spanned over three decades. Janney won numerous honors, such as the Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. She earned seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Janney has also been nominated for Two Tony Awards. Janney was born in Boston, and raised within Dayton (Ohio). The actress received a scholarship for study at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art following her graduation from Kenyon College. Janney began her TV debut in 1999, playing C. J. Cregg as a character in the political drama of NBC The West Wing (2000-2006). In the course of her work, she won the award for four Primetime Emmy Awards for this role. In recognition of her performance as Margaret Scully, a Showtime actress on the period drama Masters of Sex, Janney took home the 2014 Primetime Emmy Award as Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. Her most well-known role was her portrayal Bonnie Plunkett.
